Surfski and FIFA Soccer World Cup

Discovery Sunglass Hut Series Power of NOW

If you are sitting in JHB or Cape Town, seriously consider coming to Durban for a World Cup game and throw in a Discovery Sunglass Hut Surfski Series Race for good measure. The Flights are sooo cheap and this IS a once in a lifetime opportunity. Here are the game Dates and corresponding Series Races you can enjoy.

Race Date    Race    FIFA Date    Kick off Time

13 June    8:30pm    Germany v Australia

Sat 20 June    Scottburgh Winter’s Solstice 7or15km
19 June    1:30pm    Netherlands v Japan

Sun 27 June    Pirates Umhlanga Pirates 12or25km
Fri 25 June    4pm    Portugal v Brazil

Tracy and I pushed out yesterday afternoon for a cheeky 10km paddle. It was the most perfect day. Light SE wind(10km/hr) pushing onshore, 25 deg c, Bright sunny day and the ocean was like Durban IS in winter(Warm, Blue, Clear and beautiful). We opted to paddle straight out to sea for 25 Minutes heading for the ships.

Anyway so after pushing out and then enjoying some runs on the way back to shore, we were thinking about turning for home when the shark nets presented themselves. Flip, I botched it and got us firmly STUCK on the Nets. First thing I do is look down, just to make sure there are no NUNUs stuck in the nets(which there never are). Then followed the old “who’s gonna jump into the water and break us free from the shark nets?” debate.

Now what you must realise is that I have been in this situation before and I was in the back of the boat. On that occasion, after the debate, I was the chump who had to slide off the ski and untangle us.

Myself and Tracy quickly reach a deadlock in our debate.

Tracy solved the problem by opting to slide along the back of the ski and free us from the nets, which worked a charm so neither of us had to jump in.

This experience must have jolted me into a higher level of conscieness because I was suddenly thinking clearly. My first thought was that this IS 2010, and we will all remember this time because of the Soccer World Cup. Now we have no control over the WC, BUT you DO have control over NOW and we can affect change NOW which will take us to where we want to be.

I then started thinking about the 2010 Discovery Scottburgh to Brighton(46.5km) & Scottburgh Toti (30km) on 17 July. 2010 is a Double Ski Race IE Prize Money goes to Double Ski

Here are my thoughts as they popped into my head
1) we have the Sunglass Hut Offer of a Free pair of Oakley’s if you complete all races and also complete scottburgh brighton
2) how can we make the 2010 Scottburgh to Brighton significant?
3) the 2010 S2B IS already significant because of the WC
4) how can we build on the 2010 vibe?

My final conclusion is that 2010 IS significant and you will remember what you did this year so WHY NOT go big and commit to doing Scottburgh to Brighton or Scottburgh to TOTI. Train hard, get a Double Ski partner and build memories YOU WANT rather than simply drifting along….

You have 7 Weeks to train up for the 2010 Scottburgh to Brighton with 6 Discovery Sunglass Hut Series races to take you there step by step. ARE YOU READY to TAKE CONTROL OF THE NOW?

I hope your answer is YES!
