Year 2 of 4 Trails
Another remarkable trail running experience from
the founders of GORE-TEX® TRANSALPINE-RUN
CROSSING THE ALPS in four days – on foot – sounds like a nearly impossible undertaking but you should know trail runners better!
Between 4 and 7 July, runners will push their limits, astonish hikers and flash a bolt of envy in the hearts of spectators at the second edition of SALOMON 4 TRAILS. The route of this stage race takes athletes from Garmisch-Partenkirchen in Bavaria, southern Germany via Ehrwald, Imst and Landeck (all in Tyrol, Austria) to Samnaun (Switzerland’s only duty-free area). It incorporates some remarkable key figures: three countries, four stages, four host cities, 158km in distance and nearly 10km of elevation change*. Participants will negotiate between 30kmand 40km of rugged montane terrain and over 2,000m of elevation daily. At the second hosting of the event this year, ambitious trail runners from 18 nations will start side by side with Philipp Reiter, Christian Stork, Matthias Dippacher, Armin Hohenadler and Stephan Tassani-Prell (all Salomon Trailrunning Team Germany).
It’s open to anyone who feels up to it, but be warned: you need to be prepared!
The course takes in
High alpine terrain
Altitudes to 2,800m above sea level
Average of 500m of elevation gain per hour
Good preparation is paramount, but these four extremely long stages will demand more than stamina. Narrow, steep and exposed trails, rain, snow and ice – these all require surefootedness and good coordination skills. When it comes to the basic facts about the course, most people will shake their heads in disbelief. It’s not just the physical battle; there’s also the beautiful course through magnificent valleys and leading up to breathtaking summits. Anyone bold enough to face this running adventure will be rewarded with unforgettable memories, emotions and the pride of being a finisher. Spectators will share in the thrill of the race, but also enjoy exhibitions on the latest products by top trail running brands. Registration is open. What are you waiting for?
