Africa's largest duathlon phenomenon turns five
Last year's Momentum Health i-Flex National Duathlon Series, powered by PeptoPro, was the most successful in its four-year history.
It's back for a fifth season and all indications point to a bigger and better experience for hundreds of competitors nationally.
In 2012, the National Duathlon Series, Africa's largest and richest duathlon, plans to take its reputation for providing slick organisation, exceptional value for money and the safest venues available, to another level. The race continues to be powered by both Momentum Health's HealthReturns plan and the leading technology of PeptoSport and i-Flex, two products highly regarded by discerning endurance athletes for energy and protein replacement as well as joint care.
This year's race is different in that timing will be handled by Mr Price Sport, meaning results will be available even faster than before. Working with a professional photographic company will ensure high-quality photos will be available for sale online to all competitors.
Total prizemoney is set at more than R300,000 for the Series.
Entries are open for Race 1 of the six-event Series now.
The first event on 4 March is pitched at the vast number of run and cycle athletes in Gauteng. It's held at the secure environment of Kameelfontein, near Roodeplaat outside Pretoria. To enter or for more information, visit duathlon.co.za.

We asked them and this is what they're saying about the National Duathlon Series:
Duathlon Queen Andrea Steyn: “I am looking forward to another great Series. I am sure this year will be a better year than last year, when I was only did two of the events due to injury.”
Steyn leaves for Brazil early next week for the sprint Triathlon Festival and a week later does the Duathlon Series race. “The first event in the Series is ideal preparation for anyone doing the SA Triathlon Champs two weeks later,” she says.
Triathlete Riana de Lange: “My training has been going well and I'm looking forward to this year's National Duathlon Series. I've been working on my running with coach Lindsey Parry, which is usually my weak point. So I hope that the work will pay off this year. I'm also injury-free, not like last year, where I had to pull out of the Series.” She has enthused fiancé Andy Robertson, who will be doing his first Duathlon Series.
Alae Brand, the petite Capetonian doctor who finished the Series in third place in 2011, was involved in a bicycle crash in the league race on the second weekend of February and won't be attending. “I fractured my left collarbone and my ticket was already booked for the first event. I wish all competitors a great first event in the Series!”
Tennille Robertson, Business Manager for i-Flex, PeptoPro, PeptoSport & Mi-Vitamin and a keen competitor: “Taking part in the National Duathlon Series gives me the opportunity to test my skills against the top duathletes in the country. Experiencing both gruelling offroad and road events at awesome venues is incredible.”
