Triathlon bookazine making a difference

Newcomers to any activity typically have a thousand and one questions they'd love to ask someone more experienced.

And intermediate and experienced followers of a sport like triathlon are always on the lookout for that one tip, that one new insight, that will help them shave seconds, minutes and even hours off their times in the future.

Enter the Beginner's Guide to Triathlon, originally published in the UK by 220 Triathlon. South African purchasers of it have commented how much detail its 116 pages provide and that it shouldn't have the word beginner tagged to Guide. It's a Guide that any triathlete, from novice sprint to serious Ironman athlete, will glean valuable info from some of the leading coaches and strategy coaches in the UK.

Magazines and the web are great for learning about specific subjects, but they are limited in the overall advice they can give at any given moment. Beginners need to be taken on a virtual orientation trip, much like new employees in big corporations get.

Enter the bookazine. Not a magazine, not a book, but the best of both worlds, the bookazine is a fun, informal way to learn more about a topic with the assistance of abundant photography (in the style of magazines) and well-crafted editorial (in the style of a world-class book).

With this in mind, Go Multi magazine has published a triathlon bookazine that will raise the awareness of the sport in 2011 and beyond. It is now only available online from Go Multi's Shop after several months in CNA, although some specialist retailers may still have stock (see following page). Buy it online now. Posted one working day from order date.

"'The Beginner's Guide to Triathlon" is South Africa's first triathlon bookazine: a cross between a magazine and a book. This format is already extremely popular overseas," says publisher Deon Braun.

Go Multi is producing this bookazine to provide valuable information to newbies who have had their interest piqued by Spec-Savers Ironman South Africa 2011, held on 10 April. The Beginner's Guide will be on sale for the rest of 2011 and into 2012 too. With its quality advice, it will be an item that beginner and intermediate triathletes will be greatly interested in.

"We expect that even seasoned triathletes will buy this publication because it is packed with information. All triathletes are bound to learn new valuable tips to make them faster and stronger," says Braun.

TThe bookazine is produced in conjunction with 220 Triathlon, the UK's oldest and ABC best-selling triathlon magazine. The Beginner's Guide to Triathlon bookazine is 116 pages thick and covers all the FAQs that beginner and intermediate triathletes ask, from training to nutrition to gear. Available online from Go Multi's Shop and in limited quantities from specialist retailers countrywide. Buy it now.

Included are profiles on South African triathlon powerhouses Conrad Stoltz, Raynard Tissink and future star Kate Roberts.

International profiles include Dave Scott, Paula Newby-Fraser (a Durban resident in the 80s), Simon Lessing (born in CT and lived in Hillcrest, KZN until he was 18) and the much-loved Chrissie Wellington (after here preparation for IMSA here in 2011, she's practically a Stellenbosch local).

It retails for R74.95

Comments from purchasers:

I have to congratulate you on the bookazine; it is truly excellent.

It is the most practical information I have ever read in any book or magazine. Everything is explained clearly and all aspects of triathlon are covered.
I literally read every single word in the bookazine and couldn't wait to get to the next section.
All this information will hopefully help me train better and become a better triathlete, because next year I aim to participate in Ironman SA.

Thanks once again for the outstanding magazine and please keep up the good work. Daniël Botha

Original message:

Groete

Daniël Botha
