SA paddlers shine at World Masters Champs, Day One

Congrats to the following medallists at World Masters Canoe Champs in Spain, 22 September 2010

Masters:

Men 50-54 TC Smit- Bronze
Men 60-64 Roelof van Riet- Gold
Men 70+ Herve de Rauville- Gold

Ladies 35-39 Antje Manfroni- Silver
Ladies 40-44 Anna Clifford Arwidi- Bronze
Ladies 50-54 Hilde Lapere- Gold
Ladies 55-59 Mary Beth Burton- Gold

I have no idea what happened to our rusks yesterday, but the results make for some pretty grim reading.

The young rusks, the one's that should have been dominant, had shockers. In the fastest race - Ham, Warren & Marc all retired.

The older rusks like Roelof and Herve did well, and I see that TC had a good race (as usual). The ladies on the other hand did really well. Antjie must be pleased with her silver - she has been more or less retired from paddling for years. And then of course there were a few golds too.
