Paddling community mourns loss of stalwart

This morning Bruce Clark posted on the SAKayak forum the sad news that Margie Oliver had passed away last night. "I am devastated to hear the news that Margie had a fatal heart attack yesterday evening," said Clark.

"John, Lorna, Kirsten, I'm so, so sorry to hear this. I'm sure I speak for the whole paddling community when I say we're thinking of you. Strength."

Tim Whitfield said, "Canoeing is poorer for Margie's passing. She was a great servant of canoeing whose selfless devotion to administration and timekeeping over the years allowed thousands of us to enjoy our sport.

Our thoughts are with John, Lorna and Kirsten."

This is the SA paddling community's second loss this year after the passing away of 15-time Dusi winner Graeme Pope-Ellis in June.
