Stage 2 route change for ProNutro AfricanX Trailrun

After much deliberation the organisers of the ProNutro AfricanX Trailrun presented by New Balance have announced that Stage Two of this much loved three day stage race will undergo a minor reconstruction. Taking place in Kleinmond the weekend of 06 – 08 May 2011, participants can look forward to a challenging yet humbling experience.

According to Pieter Du Plessis, Race Director, the decision to implement changes to Stage Two was taken to ensure a scenic experience on the longest of the three stages. “The recent fire in Kleinmond destroyed 40% of Stage Two’s vegetation. Currently Nature Conservation has closed most of the mid section, as erosion is now a huge problem. Although the distance will remain the same, the Stage’s climbs will be more spread out along the route before finishing once again in Kleinmond. We are happy to announce that participants can still look forward to a safe, scenic and enjoyable experience,” says Du Plessis.

Venue:                                        Starting & ending in Kleinmond (Western Cape) each day
Start & Distance:
Stage 1:             09h00 - 23.7km / 599m Elevation
Stage 2:             08h00 - 43.3km
Stage 3:             08h00 - 21.5km / 452m Elevation

Following a cloverleaf format, runners will finish in Kleinmond on each of the three days. Their accommodation, meals and entertainment will remain in the same place for the duration of the race. The race village in Kleinmond will be a hive of activity with entertainment throughout the day, which makes the event ideally suited as a family breakaway. Family and friends are encouraged to show support along various vantage points along the route.
