Unique MTB event: Gateway Gauntlet 2010Saturday, 18 September 2010 00:00 Unique MTB event for Gateway Theatre of ShoppingThe Gateway Gauntlet is the next best thing since remote lock-outs were invented. The debut event takes place on 9 October inside Expo Xplore at Gateway Theatre of Shopping This amazing concept event will become the signature sporting event for Gateway Theatre of Shopping as well as being the only MTB event in AFRICA that rides through and finishes inside a shopping centre. There are 3 main events; the first and biggest race will be a two-lap (20km) course, consisting of an exciting and unique 10km route. The route will consist of flat out tar sprints, coupled with grinding and sharp dirt track turns, sprinkled every now and again with some short technical sections. Natural obstacles will be used or concept obstacles built to give riders an intense sense of adventure with a technical accomplishment. However don’t despair, chicken runs will always be available for the faint hearted! Another unique aspect of the race will be the riding terrain, where competitors will be exposed to tar, cobbles, dirt and obstacles along the whole route. The 2nd event will be a short 1 lap, 10km race, where riders will compete over the same routes. The Confidential Route will be another awesome element to the race. What this means is that no-one will know the route (barring us and the route designers and our secret Pro TEST Rider) The race route and profile will only be added to the event website 24hrs prior to the race and no-one will be allowed to ride it prior to the start. The 3rd and most exciting race to take place will be the limited entry race of only 30 riders. These riders will race over a 1km course inside Gateway Shopping Centre. The route will include fountains, jumps, stairs, slippery floors and sharp 180 degree turns. Entries open September! So keep an eye on www.thegauntlet.co.za
