Lazer Genesis Race

Ninety-year-old helmet specialist Lazer has done an Edward de Bono-esque re-think on the adjustable bicycle helmet. While other brands seem content with tweaking the adjustment dial strap at the back of the helmet, Lazer has turned it on its head (as Karl Marx would say).

Their Rollsys® system perches its thumb dial on top of the helmet, allowing its fully integrated mechanism to surround the head completely. The Belgian-based company says that this permits symmetrically balanced adjustments without any pressure points on the head.

Like other retention systems, the Rollsys® system can be adjusted with one hand quite easily while riding. One distinction over systems with rear dials is that Rollsys is said to fit people with ponytails better. We don’t have ponytails so we didn’t request a sample to test this claim. The 19-vent Genesis Race weighs a respectable 280g for the XSS-M option (the other size option is L-XL).
