Common in Europe, roof-mounted bike racks are becoming more popular locally, according to Thule. Their 594XT Sidearm is no exception and 29er users are turning to this mounting system. Its SecureHook™ holds the bike by grabbing the front wheel so no frame contact is made. The rear wheel is secured by a ratchet strap to the corrosion resistant double-wall aluminium tray. A One-Key™ lock cylinder (sold separately) locks the bike to carrier and carrier to rack. The versatile design accommodates bikes with disc brakes, thru-axles and other non-traditional frame designs. Fits most 20 - 29 inch wheel diameter bicycles with tyres up to 2.6 inches wide. Thule claims that besides the 594XT being able to fit their own rack systems, it can fit round bars and most factory-mounted racks.
