So what do I need to bring?
Most important equipment items if you're running only and not going on to do the Southern Storm, presented by Hi-Tec*:
- running shoes (always a good idea)
- running pack
- juice you've used in training
- gaiters
- compression socks
- sleeping bag
- pillow
- earplugs to sleep through monkey and baboon nocturnal barking (ha!)
- rain jacket/outer shell (compulsory)
- cellphone case (optional, waterproof bag)
- space blanket (compulsory)
- whistle (compulsory)
- coffee mug although there will be canteen mugs
- slops
- Petzl for dinner/terrorising the neighbourhood after sundown
- towel and toiletries
- warm clothes
- mozzie spray
- energy drink for Otter only (one sachet of a powdered form you've trained with, for the second half of the run, to keep energy levels acceptable)
- cap
- sunblock
- eyewear
Tents are booked separately from camping and camping is not included in the entry fee. There are wash-lines at the Nature's Valley campsite to rinse smelly clothes afterwards.
