Jozi gets new multisport retail specialist store

Well-know journalist and sports presenter, Arnold Geerdts was one of the special guests who attended the launch of a trendy new multisports store in Jozzie recently. The sports anchor, who is also an accomplished athlete joined avid triathletes, Steve Pettitt (left) and Dave Harrington (right), the owners of the store, Tribe Multisports in the Hobart Grove Shopping Centre in Bryanston, to celebrate the realization of their dream. With a modern boutique look and feel it has an extensive road and mountain bike offering, stocks all the latest triathlon, cycling, trail and running gear and has trading hours geared towards sports enthusiasts ( which include being open from 5am-6.30am for morning cyclists to pop in). The store also overhauls and repairs bikes and gear with a pick-up and drop-off service in the Joburg area taking the hassle out of bike and gear maintenance for sports enthusiasts. An SMS service will also keep clients up-to-date with regular progress reports on the latter. For further details, call (011) 568 0275.

Olympic triathlete and Ironman winner, Lucie (Zelenkova) Reed of Sandton and top South African age group triathlete, Samantha Ferreira of Northcliff at the opening of new sports store, Tribe Multisports in the Hobart Grove Shopping Centre in Bryanston, recently. Reed, also known as the “Czech Express”, as she hails from the Czech Republic, currently coaches a group of over 30 local multisports enthusiasts, including Ferreira and owners of Tribe Multisports, Steve Pettitt and Dave Harrington. It is mainly thanks to Reed and Ferreira’s input that the store has as one of its key focus areas the woman multisport athlete. Says Harrington, “With research showing that 45% of multisport competitors are women, with numbers growing, Lucie and Sam drew our attention to the lack of multisport stores that cater for woman - from a lack of gear options to a friendly environment. Hence we got Sam in to design the store and see to the shop fittings while Lucie’s insights as a professional international triathlete helped us create an atmosphere that will welcome all athletes, male and female from beginners to pro’s.” For further details, on the store and trading hours, call (011) 568 0275.
