The 26-year-old physio from Centurion near Pretoria lives and breathes triathlon and duathlon. Her drive and commitment to the sport she loves is quite evident. Running has always been her strength which is not surprising as her father, Karl, was a 400m hurdler and 800m runner at national level. “My determination and ‘vasbyt’ definitely comes from my mother’s side though,” says Steyn. Her parents are currently training for the Argus on a tandem.

The petite Steyn is also lucky enough to work in an environment that promotes and encourages perfection, the High Performance Centre (HPC) at the University of Pretoria.
