Just hours to go to AR World Champs start

Team Cyanosis has got just hours left before the 8am Sunday start to the Adventure Racing World Champs in Avila, Spain. The team has finalised its preperations, transition boxes are packed, and paddles, roller blades, mountain bikes are all in perfect working order for this 720km race through the western part of the country.

Little detail on the race will be available before the 5pm race briefing on Saturday evening. What has been made public however is that the race will cover 720km, have 20'768m of climb and will be covered in 22 sections. There will be numerous hiking legs, 8 mountain biking, 3 kayaking, 3 roller blading and 3 orienteering legs during the race. The winning team is expected to finish in 94 hours, which would be around 6am on Thursday morning. The exact course is unknown at present, but numerous legs seem to be very mountainous and slow going. This is going to be a fascinating head-to-head race between the worlds top teams. To make it even more interesting, all teams are carrying SPOT tracking devices, with internet users able to view team progress at www.raidbimbache.com

Cyanosis, which comprises of Nicholas Mulder, Ryno Griesel, Clinton Mackintosh and Jen Segger, have been given Team # 15. Everyone in the team feels relaxed, they are eagerly awaiting the start and looking forward to proving themselves.
