Direct link to entry portal: http://www.mrpriceheroes.co.za/RaceInfo.aspx?RaceId=67 We asked some of the top contenders and this is what they're saying about the National Duathlon Series: Duathlon Queen Andrea Steyn: “I am looking forward to another great Series. I am sure this year will be a better year than last year, when I was only did two of the events due to injury.” Her advice on the day? "Kameelfontein is actually a very undulating course. I would recommend, especially people new to cycling, that although it is a drafting race to still pace yourself. If you feel comfortable drafting behind someone use it to your advantage. Don't try to grind those hills. Rather spin more during the uphills... remember this is a duathlon and you still need your legs after the bike to do that last run!" David Labuschagne of Cycle Lab agrees: "The first race at Kameelfontein will again be a tough race. The run is fairly flat, ideal for the asphalt runners. But the cycle leg is hilly and this will test the cycling legs; there will be no free rides in the bunch. The hills will give the ideal opportunity to split the bunch and build a lead for the last run." Triathlete Riana de Lange: “My training has been going well and I'm looking forward to this year's National Duathlon Series. I've been working on my running, which is usually my weak point, with coach Lindsey Parry. So I hope that the work will pay off this year. I'm also injury-free, not like last year, where I had to pull out of the Series.” She has enthused fiancé Andy Robertson, who will be doing his first Duathlon Series. Brand du Plessis, winner of the men's title since its inception, says, “For the first race, I don’t know how my legs are going to be. These days I train only on my mountain bike as I feel it is safer than the road, and with the running I am on three times a week, if it is a good week. I hope I have better results in 2012 than last year. I believe the National Duathlon Series will be even more successful than before.” Tennille Robertson, Business Manager for i-Flex, PeptoPro and PeptoSport and also a keen competitor: “Taking part in the National Duathlon Series gives me the opportunity to test my skills against the top duathletes in the country. Experiencing both gruelling offroad and road events at awesome venues is incredible.”
