Spectator spots for Columbia Grape Escape

Places to be at the Columbia Grape Escape

The new Columbia Grape Escape kicks off at Eden on the Bay on Friday, 4 March. This gruelling 3-day stage race consists of a 225km mountain bike route, which should make for some great spectator viewing.

“The Columbia Grape Escape is a tough event, make no mistake, but that’s exactly why it is also bound to make for great viewing. We’d like to encourage friends, family and fans to come and cheer these riders on from the sidelines,” commented David Bellairs, CEO of the Cape Town Cycle Tour Trust.

Spectators are most welcome at the start and finish each day, but the following are also good spots from which to see the race:

Friday, 4 March: Eden on the Bay to Nelson Wine Estate (80km)

Contermanskloof, Durbanville
Slent Road (in the vicinity of the wind turbines)
Voor Paardeberg Road, Agter Paarl

Saturday, 5 March: Nelson Wine Estate to Boschendal (78km)

Addy Road, Wellington
Beulah Climb, Bainskloof
Pearl Valley, Paarl

Sunday, 6 March: Boschendal (67km)

Plasir de Merle, Simondium
