XTERRA Buffelspoort sees big names competeMonday, 31 January 2011 07:05 Stoltz and Van Huyssteen conquer XTERRA BuffelspoortXTERRA legend Conrad Stoltz proved to be in a league of his own on Saturday, 29 January 2011 when he completed the DUESOUTH XTERRA Buffelspoort presented by REHIDRAT® in an astonishing time of 2hours 14minutes 02seconds, proving once again that he deserves his four XTERRA World Championship titles. Carla van Huyssteen was a force to be reckoned with in the women’s race. For reigning XTERRA World Champion Conrad Stoltz, it was business as usual, dominating the race in typical Caveman style. He said it was great to be racing on home ground again. “I really enjoyed the route as it featured a bit of everything. I had a good swim followed by a quick transition onto the mountain bike discipline. I wasn’t able to pre-ride the mountain bike route and as a result was faced with quite a few surprises on the day." The run leg was adventurous with athletes having to work their way through water, down one side of the dam, over the dam wall and up the other side again. "I regret not having been able to take part in more XTERRA SA events in the past, but thanks to the guidance of my new coach, Ian Rodger, this will soon change. It felt like the old days, going up against Lieuwe Boonstra and Dan Hugo, both fantastic XTERRA athletes. I am really looking forward to the DUESOUTH XTERRA SA Champs in February,” says Stoltz. Dan Hugo came in second, while Lieuwe Boonstra finished third.
