Comrades workshops in Zululand
The Comrades Marathon Association (CMA) will present two information workshops in the Zululand region over the next two weekends. These workshops are aimed at imparting important race information to the runners.
“One of CMA’s marketing strategies is to make information easily accessible and understandable to all Comrades runners. A large number of non-English speaking runners participate in our event and the presentation of these workshops will be done entirely in Zulu”, said Thami Vilakazi, Comrades Marathon Marketing Coordinator. “This is a pilot project and we are looking forward to expanding the workshops into other regions, in other South African languages over the next few years”, he added.
The following topics will be covered at these workshops:
· The importance of recovery;
· Qualifying criteria;
· The final long run;
· Tapering down to race day;
· Race day - Getting to the start, the route profile, race strategy; and
· Nutrition.
Runners from neighboring towns and running clubs are urged to attend these workshops. Entrance is free and the presentation is expected to last about two and half hours.
