Day seven draws close to 10th Senior African Swimming ChampionshipsMonday, 20 September 2010 14:18 SA Swimmers wrap-up in fine styleSouth African swimmers on top. Winning an amazing 27 golds, 16 silvers and 16 bronze medals to become the clear winners of the 10th Senior African Swimming Championships in Casablanca, Morocco. On the final day of the competition, it was Jessica Roux who collected South Africa’s final gold medal in the women’s 5km Open Water race. In a hard fought swim in Sedi Abed, Jessica came out tops with a time of 45:02.78. Morocco’s Sara el Bekri claimed the silver medal in 46:28.06 followed by Malya Mgehezzi Bakhouche from Algeria in 46:30.08. In the men’s 5km Open Water race the battle was between Egypt’s Hadeil Mohamed and Daniel Marais. In the end, it was Hadeil’s (40:50.36) final stride which won him the gold, a mere second ahead of Daniel (40:51.31). SA’s Abdul-Malick Railoun took the bronze in 41:33.12. The South African swimming team will be arriving back home on Tuesday, 21st September at 09h45, OR Tambo International Airport. Final Medal Rankings:
