Reid and Liss dominate Eastern Cape Swim ChampsMonday, 13 December 2010 16:58 Reid and Liss shine at Eastern Cape Swim ChampsThe standard of swimming in the Eastern Cape was not in doubt over the weekend for the 2010 Eastern Cape Swimming Championships taking place at the Newton Park indoor Pool Complex. Local Aquabear swimmers Christopher Reid and Jessica Liss were the stars of the event and will be very happy with their form ahead of the SA Nationals in the same swimming pool in March next year. 14 year old Reid, won all 10 of his events, breaking the EP record in the 100m Backstroke and the 100m Freestyle whilst also achieving SA qualifying times for the 100m backstroke, 100m butterfly and the 200m backstroke. 15 year old Liss appears to have peaked at just the right time, winning 5 gold medals and achieving SA qualifying times in all of her events whilst breaking Eastern Province records in the 200m butterfly, 400m Individual Medley and the 200m Breaststroke.Up coming stars were the PEA pairing of 9 year old Ricky King and 10 year old Kaley Gouws with King winning 9 golds and 1 silver over the weekend and Gouws 7 golds and 1 silver. Aquabear swim club rounded off the weekend by breaking no fewer than 6 EP relay records. The South African Senior National Championships will take place in Port Elizabeth in mid March next year and will be followed by the SA Open water Championships in either Marina Martinique or Nelson Mandela Bay.
