High winds batter AfricanXThursday, 06 May 2010 12:38
Gale force winds cause chaos ahead of Pronutro AfricanX Trail RunDisaster has struck in Kleinmond where event organisers are currently setting up for the second annual ProNutro AfricanX Trailrun presented by New Balance due to take place from Friday, 07 May, to Sunday, 09 May 2010. Due to gale force winds experienced at present in the area, organisers have been forced to stop setting up the Festival Village including the tented area set aside for participating athletes. According to event organiser Michael Meyer, the weather has resulted in a logistical nightmare. “Unfortunately athletes who were planning on using the tented accommodation facilities for the three-day period will need to make alternative arrangements for tonight as the current weather conditions have made it impossible to set up camp. As a result, tonight’s scheduled registration will move to Friday morning between 07h00 and 11h00 at Kleinmond’s Caravan Park. This has necessitated a delay to the start of Stage One, which has subsequently been moved to 12h00. We are terribly sorry for the inconvenience,” says Meyer. As per Disaster Management instructions: 1. Due to galeforce winds the race village has been closed until 7am on Friday, 7 May. 2. All tented accommodation has been closed down. This means: 1. All tented accommodation is no longer available for Thursday evening. 2. Alternative accommodation needs to be arranged by runners 3. Runner number collection/Registration has been postponed until Friday, 7 May 2010 from 07h00 to 10h00 4. Race briefing, Friday 07 May 2010 at 10h00 in Race Village 5.
