Entries open on new-look website
There are certain moments in life that defines a person and certain moments that defines a person’s year. A moment that falls into the first category is finishing an Ironman; the second is the announcement that entries for the next year’s Spec-Savers Ironman South Africa are open. That moment is now!
Entries to the 2012 Spec-Savers Ironman South Africa are now open on our new-look website. This year saw 1745 entrants to the iconic event and interest continues to soar each and every year.
Normal entry is R4000 until 31 of January 2012. Spec-Savers entries are R2700 and will also run until 31 January 2012. Thereafter, late entries will run from 1 February 2012 until 23 March 2012 at R4500.
The 2011 Spec-Savers Ironman South Africa was hailed as one of the cleanest races by many athletes, both local and international. That’s not even mentioning the white hot action that the 40 000 plus spectators were treated to with Chrissie Wellington smashing her own Ironman world record and Raynard Tissink successfully defending his crown in a new record time.
If 2011 is anything to go by, the 2012 event is set to get the pulses of triathletes from all over the world racing. For so many triathletes, this is the moment that defines their year. This is the moment that opens the door to that other moment, the one that is sought after by so many, and achieved by few. You can recognise these few by a title they carry – the title of IRONMAN!
