Suncoast Olympic Tri & Du given green lightTuesday, 14 June 2011 08:28 SA’s fastest Triathlon course gets total road closure for cycling legThe upcoming Suncoast Multisport race powered by Subaru on 17 July has been given the green light for the 10km cycle lap course. SA’s fastest triathlon course just got faster with the sort after 10km cycle route been given the go ahead by the Metro Police and the City of Durban. What this means is total road closure for the whole cycling leg of the event, with the sprint and the Olympic athletes making use of the fast and flat 10km cycle lap. The Cycle route will go out along the Suncoast walking promenade northerly and left under the M4 underpass towards the Moses Madiba Stadium. From here the cyclists will go through the concrete bollards and left onto Masabalala Yengwa Avenue. At Battery Beach Road the cyclists go into the right hand fast lane, traveling towards Kingsmead. The athletes stay in the fast lane until Old Fort Road. Here the cyclists do a hairpin turn left and come back (Contra- flow) in the southbound slow lane back towards Kingspark Pool. At Kingspark Pool they turn right into Battery Beach Rd. Under the M4 highway and left back again into Snell Parade. They cycle along Snell Parade until Athlone Road, left under the M4 along Athlone road and Left into NMR and through Walter Gilbert Rd intersection. The Sprint athletes will complete two laps of this course, while the Olympic Athletes will complete four laps. KANTA official will be out on-route to enforce that the no drafting rule is applied.
