YouTube highlights of Abu Dhabi International Triathlon 2011Monday, 14 March 2011 14:04 Abu Dhabi International Triathlon highlights on YouTubeSee highlights from the world's richest triathlon, held this weekend in the United Arab Emirates http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i8dlf0nlBN0 Deon Braun of Go Multi magazine competed in the Long Course (3km swim, 200km bike and 20km run) and had this to say: "It was a magic event to be able to do, my first in the Middle East. I finished the triathlon in an OK time (9:11:34 which put me 13th in a field of 29 finishers in the 40-44 age category). Like several others, I made an Abu Dhabi desert rookie mistake of not wearing socks for the bike because it was so hot, but going into the second transition (T2), we had to run our bikes over what I estimate must have been at least 50 degree Celsius paving. Even though it was only around 200m in total distance, the heat was enough to scald and blister my feet - and I don't have soft feet. You know what a fillet of chicken breast looks like when you toss it into a hot pan for a few seconds and then turn it over? That's what the sole of my feet looked like when I got to the change tent to put on my run shoes. The 20km run was interesting to say the least... Blood seeping through your shoe stuff." ADIT is efinitely a race to remember and savour when you're 80 (or older) and no longer so keen to do 223km on your Saturday off work. Follow the race on Twitter @abudhabitri
