LSD No, not the hallucinogen. Long, steady distance or Long, slow distance. Essential cardiovascular training foundation for endurance events.
Lactate threshold The highest pace at which you can go for an extended period without building up lactic acid.
Ladder An interval workout with progressively increasing then decreasing distances at each interval.
Last A shaped piece of wood or metal on which a shoe is built. The shape of the last determines the shape of the shoe. Shoes are made in three basic shapes: straight, curved and semi-curved, but all three shapes vary from company to company as each company has its own lasts.
Last Where you have to be sometimes when you're starting a new sport, but hey, someone has to be, or else your sport wouldn't exist. (Maya Opperman)

Lead out A rider intentionally sacrificing his chances of winning a sprint, so that a teammate can ride in his draft until ready to begin the final sprint.
Lehana The cry of any rider who has completed the Freedom Challenge Race Across South Africa. Lehana's Pass is a mule track, ascending 1,000m the Drakensberg escarpment, up which participants must portage their bikes. (David Waddilove)

Line The desirable path or strategy to take on a tricky trail section.
Loafing Slow riding tactic in preparation for a sprint.
