Finis AquaPulseThursday, 11 March 2010 11:21 Finis AquaPulseGetting accurate and meaningful heart rate readings in a swimming pool is a nightmare. That’s just the start: press a button underwater on your standard heart monitor, and you risk damaging the unit and voiding your warranty!
Swim specialist Finis successfully re-invents the wheel with two innovative technologies on its all-new AquaPulse monitor that skirt both “sliding down my ribs” chest strap syndrom and “how do I know what my heart’s doing while I’m swimming?” conundrum. There’s no chest strap because the readings are taken from your ear lobe by an infra-red pickup. Wow. The second out-of-the-box trick uses Finis’ well-proven bone transmission technology, so you can have your heart rate values read out audibly and hear them underwater, at the interval of your choice (anything from 20 seconds to five minutes). An instantaneous heart rate button provides readings at the wall. www.swimgear.co.za
