Rotor Rings 3DFriday, 19 March 2010 12:09 Rotor Rings 3D yellow cranksetIt’s happened before - many times - and it will happen again in future. Products released as limited editions often fall into regular production. Whether 2008 Tour winner Carlos Sastre’s Rotor Rings 3D yellow crankset become commercially available is anyone’s guess.
It is one of only six versions hand-painted yellow to complement the jersey he rode to the Champs Elysées last year. 3D Cranks are the first Rotor cranks designed in collaboration with a ProTour cycling team. A manufacturing process dubbed the Trinity Drilling System drills three holes along the length of an extruded CNC machined aluminium bar. The result is the 3D crank - stiff to meet the demands of Tour multiple-stage winner Thor Hushovd and the TestTeam’s sprinters, yet lightweight enough to satisfy the needs of Carlos Sastre and the climbers on the team.
